We are taught, by those who insist they have wisdom to impart, that:
1) The natural world is the result of random interactions of molecules, and what we see around us created itself without intention or purpose.
2) Doing things like coal mining is BAD, because it damages the EARTH, both in the mining and in the burning. People who do not oppose mining and burning carbon are EVIL.
Question: How does a proponent of a philosophy which insists that there is no purpose in the universe justify using these terms of moral judgement? If the universe is a random accident then there is no measure of good or evil, and every action is entirely arbitrary. In other words, whether one does A or not-A, so what? Who cares? The universe certainly does not give a damn.
